A.J. Harper – President
A.J. Harper was appointed to the position of president of Healthcare Council of Western Pennsylvania in July 2005.
Prior to joining Healthcare Council, he had a 25-year career in Cleveland, Ohio working in both community and tertiary care settings. His operations experience includes serving as administrative director of Medical Operations at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation; vice president, Care Management at Marymount Hospital, a member of the Cleveland Clinic Health System; and administrator of the Lake/University Ireland Cancer Center, a freestanding comprehensive cancer center. He gained association experience while serving as vice president, Professional Services, at the Greater Cleveland Hospital Association.
A.J. was recently appointed to serve on the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Section for Metropolitan Hospitals for 2019. This Section represents AHA’s metropolitan / suburban / urban, public and teaching hospitals, and participates in AHA’s advocacy, policy and resource development activities and strategic planning opportunities.
He is a member of the board of directors of the Regional Learning Alliance in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. He also serves on several advisory councils, boards of directors for community organizations, and professional societies. He is an adjunct faculty member of the Robert Morris University School of Health Services Administration.
A.J. earned a Bachelor of Science in health information management, at the School of Allied Health, College of Medicine at The Ohio State University, and a Master of Business Administration from Baldwin-Wallace College, Berea, Ohio.
